Just came across this great post via Twitter on strong female characters in SF and Fantasy :
I couldn’t work out how to re-blog it here or I would have done. I’ve always tried to include strong female characters in my work (goodies and baddies), but it’s a difficult balance to make them strong without turning them into men in dresses. I think that might be why Allorise Carey is SO girly in her downtime. Maybe she’s overcompensating with frills and high heels and giggling to make up for all the power-grabbing and murder when she’s working?
