My friend Cheryl Morgan has kindly name-checked me in an article over on Fantasy Faction on “Women to Watch Out For in 2013”, in response to FF’s slightly testosterone-heavy list of books to look out for next year. She also picks out “Six Gun Snow White” by Catherynne M Valente, “The Shining Girls” by Lauren Beukes, “Poison” by Sarah Pinborough, and “Between Two Thorns” by Emma Newman, which was one of my own top choices for next year. It looks like fairy tale re-imaginings and Elizabethan fantasy are going to be the big trends next season, but that doesn’t mean there’s not room for grubby boys with swords and horses….
